JOB SUMMARY: Maintenance Supervisor will direct and coordinate activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of mill.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to:
- Plan, organize and direct maintenance personnel.
- Train and support maintenance technicians and electricians, assisting in all maintenance projects, repairs, and activities
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Keeps the Maintenance Manager properly informed on all abnormal or critical situations and seeks advice on matters outside of the supervisor’s knowledge or authority.
- Review job orders to determine work priorities. Schedules the repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
- Coordinate activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
- Supervise maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
- Supervise training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
- Confer with management and engineering personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
- Assists planner in examination of jobs to be done and determination of scope and best way to accomplish the work
- Obtains blueprints, drawings, instructional manuals and special procedures, as needed, from files or other sources
- Makes any additional sketches, diagrams, etc., necessary to clarify the intent of the work order.
- Use and follow safety guidelines for tools and equipment and demonstrate on a regular basis operational knowledge of these products.
- Assign work orders, perform inspections, and ensure adequate work coverage.
- Facilitates the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program and inspects to ensure PMs are completed.
- Process all maintenance orders and maintain adequate inventory control within budgeted guidelines
- Ensure the successful execution of all company safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Participates in, and supports, the safety training program (I.E.: safety meetings, shop safety inspections, enforcement of lock-out/tag-out program, Arc Flash/Shock Hazard Program, enforcement of the confined space program, conducts accident investigation of all injuries, etc.)
- Communicate professionally and evaluate maintenance vendors and contract proposals.
- Performs employee discipline counseling, employee performance reviews, and other personnel reports.
- Schedule employees and approve employee timecards.
- Conducts interviews for open positions.
- Ensures employees observe company policies, procedures and monitors for compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Computer literate and knowledge in using software (Microsoft Office, Excel, SAP, ADP, Success Factors) with the ability to learn new applications as required
- Experience in welding, reading plans, drawings and electrical schematics.
- Basic electrical knowledge.
- Required: Highschool or GED. Preferred associate degree or higher.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as Maintenance Supervisor in a manufacturing environment.
- English Required. Bilingual preferred.
- Food Safety Policy Compliance: Understand and apply food safety principles to all work activities, ensuring full compliance with the Food Safety Policy.
- Quality and Food Safety Application: Implement quality and food safety principles in daily tasks to meet safety objectives.
- Food Safety Management System Support: Familiarize with the Food Safety Management System, contributing to its implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
- Environmental Policy Awareness: Apply environmental policy principles in work activities, supporting program performance and compliance.
- Minimize Environmental Impact: Conduct all activities in accordance with guidelines outlined in the environmental management system to prevent significant environmental impacts.
- Environmental Management System Understanding: Recognize and apply relevant Environmental Management System documents, understanding their importance in achieving environmental protection and legal compliance. Other responsibilities established in the EMS Authority and Responsibility Matrix.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

- Physical Requirements: Climbing, balancing, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, vision, and repetitive motions.
- Medium Work: Ability to lift up to 50lbs, climb vertical ladders, and perform work in heights. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is related to Light Work.
- Environmental Conditions: Both inside and outside environmental conditions, humidity, noise, vibration, hazard, and atmospheric conditions.
