Our plant in Pueblo, CO is looking for an experienced Sanitation Manager. The Sanitation Manager will maintain the plant, machinery and surroundings in compliance with AIB and plant Food Safety procedures. The Sanitation Manager will observe and enforce company safety rules and policies, coordinate cleaning assignments to sanitation technicians, and ensure proper implementation and maintenance of all food safety and sanitation programs.

 

Sanitation Manager Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Sanitation Department;
  • Administer and enforce company policies, safety rules and GMPs;
  • Ensure sanitation standards are achieved;
  • Manage and maintain Master Sanitation Schedule;
  • Work closely with other departments for scheduling required cleaning;
  • Write all sanitation related work instructions (cleaning procedures, master sanitation list, pest control programs, food safety work instructions);
  • Assign daily cleaning job duties or tasks according to skill level;
  • Hire, train and orientate all new sanitation employees on safety, work instruction and work procedures;
  • Manage department employees’ schedules, attendance, performance and development;
  • Administer employee corrective actions as needed;
  • Responsible for employee safety and department safety training;
  • Responsible for training sanitation personnel on proper chemical use and equipment cleaning, including lock out procedures;
  • Purchase all cleaning chemicals, supplies, tools or equipment needed for sanitation tasks;
  • Responsible for AIB and TB Food Safety Audits;
  • Responsible for plant pest control (procedures, record keeping);
  • Responsible for plant Glass and Brittle Plastic Program;
  • Responsible for plant Self-Inspection Program (scheduling and record keeping);
  • Responsible for Weekly Food Safety Inspections (record keeping, CARs etc.);
  • Sanitation Chemical Control and inventory;
  • Responsible for all related sanitation record keeping;
  • Responsible for proper recording and waste dumping;
  • Manage and maintain department budget; and
  • Ensure that products are being produced in conformance with Food Safety Practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or a related field and three years of experience in the job offered or sanitation management in food manufacturing. Requires three years of experience in the following:

  1. Identifying and assessing microbiological and chemical risks in the production process and take corrective actions.
  2. Developing and implementing training programs for sanitation staff, ensuring a high level of competence and awareness about safety practices.
  3. HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) Food safety regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) sanitation standards, and sanitation industry best practices.
  4. Project management techniques to plan, organize, and execute sanitation initiatives, including scheduling, resource allocation, and monitoring progress
  5. Developing and implementing comprehensive cleaning protocols and procedures for equipment and facilities to ensure optimal sanitation standards and regulatory compliance
  6. Conducting budget preparation and cost analysis to optimize financial resources and facilitate informed decision-making.

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base compensation, Gruma offers benefits.

 

Salary Range:  $108,826.00 annually plus $7k Bonus and Full Benefits Packet including:
