PRODUCTION SHIFT SUPERVISOR
The Production Shift Supervisor strives to meet the goals of all Quality Control standards in all products. Assists the Production Manager and/or Plant Superintendent in all areas of production.
- Monitors the crew to ensure proper standard operating procedures are being followed.
- Monitors cooks to ensure proper lime weights, steam time and temperatures are in accordance with established ranges, and proper blends are being maintained.
- Walks around all areas of the plant periodically throughout shift to observe wash settings, belt speeds, stone speeds, additive run outs, and to make sure suction fans are working on inline belts.
- Monitors tub runner to ensure proper steep temperatures and water levels are maintained. Ensuring consistent tub run outs and observing washes to maintain established settings.
- Monitors drier operators to ensure proper stone and drier settings, to ensure maximum speeds on driers for quality product.
- Verifies sifter and mill screen setups. Also ensure proper handling of sifter screens.
- Establishes proper startup speeds on milling and adjusting to correspond to sieve analysis.
Monitors production lab results to ensure standard goals are being sought. - Spot weighing sacks to ensure standard weights are maintained.
- Inspects warehouse to ensure pallets are being stacked neatly and in consistent manner.
- Evaluates production employees’ efficiency and productivity and overall job performance.
- Interviews, selects, and trains employees.
- Discipline employees and provide coaching and/or retraining when necessary.
- Provide for the safety of employees and property by ensuring that required training is conducted and safety policies are being adhered to.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 3 years of production experience in a manufacturing plant required. Bakery or food/beverage manufacturing preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity or 4 years as a Lead in production required. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Experience in manufacturing supervisory role with a proven track record in leading manufacturing teams.
- Experience and exposure to regulatory inspections (AIB, OSHA, MILITARY, Health Dept., EPA, City & County Inspectors)
- Experience with Quality Systems and Programs
- Familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Able to perform simple analysis.
- Be able to walk long distances and to be on his/her feet for long periods of time.
- Able to work in dusty, noisy, hot, cold, and small areas.
- Ability to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends.
- Strong Computer skills including Microsoft Office Applications.
- Bilingual Spanish / English required.
- Be able to lift to 50lbs.
