Our plant in Mountain Top, PA is looking for an experienced Maintenance Lead. The Maintenance Lead supports the engineering and maintenance functions of the facility by performing routine and complex mechanical tasks. They assist the Maintenance Supervisors and/or Manager in overseeing maintenance staff and training junior mechanics. The role encompasses both hands-on technical work and support in engineering-related planning and supervision.
Maintenance Lead Responsibilities
- Install, operate, maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot various types of A/C and D/C electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair solid state and electronic control systems.
- Install, operate, maintain, and inspect a wide range of mechanical equipment consistent with engineering standards.
- Conduct inspections, perform diagnostic tests, and complete all required reports and technical documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair activities following A.I.B. and P. principles and engineering maintenance protocols.
- Analyze and troubleshoot systems using engineering-based reasoning to determine whether components require repair or replacement.
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble gearboxes, fans, conveyors, blowers, compressors, pumps, valves, and related mechanical equipment using engineering knowledge of mechanical systems.
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble electric motors, relays, timers, and related electrical components.
- Install and repair electrical conduits, cables, piping, tubing (including connections), control systems, and grounding systems.
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks on dust and fume collection systems.
- Operate mobile lift trucks and hoisting equipment during maintenance and mechanical installations.
- Apply basic rigging techniques for moving and relocating mechanical equipment.
- Perform lubrication tasks and maintenance of production machinery consistent with mechanical engineering maintenance procedures.
- Interpret and apply knowledge of mechanical and electrical blueprints, use basic shop math, and follow local, state, and federal codes applicable to mechanical systems.
- Assist in managing spare parts inventory, including part checkout, ordering, and restocking in support of ongoing mechanical operations.
- Support Maintenance Management in enforcing company rules, policies, and engineering procedures by reporting violations and assisting in policy adherence.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) and all company and OSHA safety protocols.
- Maintain safe work practices and report hazardous conditions immediately.
- Assign maintenance tasks to junior mechanics and assist the Maintenance Supervisor in scheduling and workload monitoring.
- Train less experienced personnel in maintenance procedures and mechanical systems troubleshooting.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field and two years of experience in the job offered or a maintenance engineering role in a manufacturing environment. Requires two years of experience in the following:
- Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting A/C and D/C electrical systems.
- Performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of mechanical systems.
- Reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical blueprints, schematics, and engineering diagrams.
- Utilizing mechanical troubleshooting techniques to determine root cause of system failures and recommend or implement corrective actions.
- Applying safety procedures, such as Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO).
- Conducting mechanical inspections and preparing technical reports.
- Operating and maintaining industrial equipment.
