Brief Summary

The plant engineer is responsible for maintaining the plant building and equipment in the best achievable operable condition to comply with all the regulatory and governmental agencies and being prepared for emergency regulatory inspections. He must conduct regulatory and special inspections to the plant as well as investigation of any incident/accident to people or asset, report results and prepares work assignments to comply with them. He/she must supervise equipment and building installations and reparations and must enforce critical control points and checks that will affect personnel, property and product quality and safety.

 

Job Responsibilities

Ensures Preventive and Corrective Maintenance Programs are within the department Budget and complies with the company’s policy, procedures, and guidelines.

Controls and Monitors Expenditure of parts, supplies and Outside Contracting services to be within established expense budget.

Provide instruction to the maintenance, production and sanitation personnel in the proper operation, cleaning and caring of new plant equipment and systems.

Ensures compliance with the Preventive Maintenance program and monitors department mechanical downtime performance.

Ensures work safety conditions are complied with and issues corrective actions upon a violation.

Communicates with production and sanitation manager on problem areas.

Keeps the objective of loss time to a minimum achievable.

Monitors the training of maintenance employees to comply with the training plan.

Directly oversees and supervises the plant wastewater system.

Reports, Investigates Accidents and incidents as OSHA, FIRE Marshall, NEC, City, CWD, etc.

Oversees and enforces compliance with all the Company and Government Regulation

SPCC, Safety, Fire Procedure

Participates in the management meetings related to Food Safety, Safety, CQI and others related to plant procedures or programs.

Coordinates and executes monthly meetings with key staff in order to maintain open lines of communication and to provide departmental and plant results.

Maintain up to date records for all plant programs:  ISO, HACCP, Food Safety, Safety, Quality recall, etc.   

Must be able to comply and keep administrative requirements current: inspections.

CAR's, consumer/customer complaints, service failures, safety, food safety, CQI open items, cost and other management reports.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
