Our Mission Foods facility in Lakeland FL Plant is looking for an experienced Production Supervisor to proudly work at this facility. The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for partnering with the rest of the organization to consistently supply products that exceed customer and consumer expectations. The QA Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily activities of the QA Leads and technicians.
- Supervises Plant Quality System requirements.
- Reviews activities to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Monitors and guarantees that products are being manufactured in conformance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety Practices. Provides training and support, as well as enforcement to the Food Safety Program.
- Investigates and communicates to the QA Manager all departmental and Plant issues.
- Supervises the daily activities of the technicians and assures the proper training in Safety, Food Safety and Quality Systems.
- Reviews and updates work aids (instructions, charts, manuals, bulletins, code date calendars, etc.) essential for verification of product quality.
- Assists in special projects and generates summary of projects’ performance.
- Communicate effectively with the department, plant, and Corporate Personnel.
- Takes disciplinary actions and investigates incidents when required.
- Perform QA Manager Duties and responsibilities in his/her absence.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School diploma, GED or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in food science, Chemical, Engineering, Microbiology strongly preferred. 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment required. Food/Beverage manufacturing preferred. With a minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity or 4 years as a Lead in a manufacturing environment required. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Reliable, Responsible, with initiative to take the next level; Committed
- Quality Systems experience,
- Knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety Programs
- Computer Literacy, Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) desirable
- Knowledge of statistics is preferred.
- Good communication skills

Job Responsibilities
Keep Q.A. Manager informed of departmental operations.
Supervise and direct departmental employees.
Supervise the application of the work instructions, specifications etc.
Facilitate the work schedule of the department and control overtime
Assist in maintaining Q.A. laboratory installations.
Assist in controlling expenses to ensure a balanced budget.
Monitor flour quality throughout the different stages.
Direct the Q.A. SAP computer applications
Verification of Q.A. equipment functionality and verification of the calibrations
Work with other Azteca departments that can affect the quality of the product and service to customers.
Oversee and maintain direct training of employees.
Help in the implementation of the Quality systems Certifications
Promote and implement Gruma Corporation World Quality Program.
Perform food safety audits.
In conjunction with manager determine status of final product.
Perform external-audit testing.
Verify HACCP controls.
Regular and timely attendance is a job requirement of all employees
