Reporting to the Maintenance Operations Director. Serves as a member of and resource to the Operational Recovery Mission (STORM) Team. Conducts hands-on training with plant personnel.

 

  • Directs the coordination of the Sanitation department functions to ensure compliance with the Company’s Vision and Mission Statements
  • Promotes plant safety through participation on the Safety Sub-committee, education of employees, compliance to the safety programs and incentives 
  • Responsible for the completion of all monthly Safety Training and weekly 7-Minute Training by the production supervisors prior to the deadlines
  • Promotes Food Safety through the participation of Food Safety Sub Committee, Food Defense Team, HACCP, Internal Auditing, and Traceability Team
  • Conducts weekly Safety and Sanitation inspections maintains documentation and ensures permanent solutions are implemented for re-occurring problems
  • Participates, promotes and trains Sanitation Leads in the use of Lean manufacturing tools to continuously improve process activities improve the overall quality by reducing risk of yeast and mold counts, reducing costs of both production and maintenance and participating change over downtime reduction and increasing the overall efficiency of each department maximizing the through put (OEE).
  • Participates promotes and trains Production Supervisors, Leads in the 5S methodology and leads the deployment of these practices into the Production culture.
  • Is responsible to bring to the Production Department World Class Manufacturing initiatives and create a culture of continuous improvement through employee performance measurement in key activities.
  • Develop, implement and follow-up plans to accomplish departmental goals and to provide a service to the operations of the plant.
  • Provide support and the necessary safety and food safety training to keep the sanitation department in compliance with OSHA, and AIB standards.
  • Perform safety and sanitation audits. Provide support in training when needed to plant employees to better develop overall Plant Safety and Food Safety.
  • Collaborate in the development and accomplishment of the department budget.
  • Produce or assist in preparing written reports for management or Corporate needs.
  • Purchase all materials required for the operation of the department including safety equipment.
  • Enforce all company policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Develop and implement improvements and changes in the work instructions, job descriptions, and training needs.
  • Must be able to keep administrative paperwork current regarding schedules, inspections, inventories, and management reports.
  • Keep employees informed on factors relating to their work assignment, work progress, and opportunity for advancement.
  • Evaluating, as deemed necessary by the company, the performance of introductory employees, regular employees, and employees who are being terminated.
  • Schedule vacation of Sanitation Department Employees.
  • Develop and maintain the master sanitation schedule
  • Participate in Safety Committee meetings, accident reviews, conduct monthly safety training meetings, and special safety requirements.
  • Lead the food safety committee
  • Prepare monthly and weekly food safety reports for management

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School diploma, GED or equivalent required. College Degree preferred. 5 years’ experience in Maintenance with a specialty in Sanitation in a CPG Food manufacturing environment preferred (baking industry desired); any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.  Preferred certifications include Six Sigma, TPS, ISO, TPM and Lean Manufacturing.  *Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.

•    Technical experience in processing or packaging of tortilla and fried products
•    Bilingual (Spanish / English) preferred.
•    Able to travel up to 80% of the time.
