Corporate Safety Manager

This position develops and enforces safety programs for all Mission Foods & Azteca Milling locations. Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations. Provides knowledge, services, and advice through the development, communication, implementation and compliance of the company’s safety and workers compensation, return-to-work, and accident investigation programs.

 

  • Build world class safety programs leading to a sustainable change in company safety culture.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations. Advise management regarding safety and health requirements. Maintains awareness of state and federal laws, directives, standards, and codes dealing with employee safety and workers compensation.
  • Oversees accident investigation and root cause analysis processes.
  • Provides safety training to establish clear procedures on safety precautions and measures.
  • Implements and maintains a continuing educational safety program for managers, supervisors, and employees. Coordinates and schedules safety training sessions.
  • Maintains records and prepares statistical reports on safety performance and accidents, including the OSHA 200. Provides rolling twelve-month reports on injury and claim trends. Distributes appropriate reports to management.
  • Conducts workers compensation claims management. Monitors workers compensation cases with insurance carrier to assist with rapid closure of claims. Maintains strong working relationships with the company’s insurance carrier and broker to maximize efforts in administering and improving the claims management process.
  • Acts as liaison between insurance carriers, state and federal agencies and emergency services regarding safety and health.
  • Identifies potential physical and health hazards. Performs facility inspections to identify potential hazards.
  • Selects and identifies the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, risk management, loss control, or business administration related field required. Minimum of 8 years of safety experience including experience managing multi facilities. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.

Work is performed in office and manufacturing settings. Work requires up to 60% travel.
