Category Development Manager

This position is responsible for developing innovative retailer solutions to drive the Region’s and Mission Foods goals and objectives and for supporting category management selling efforts, management reporting and sales analysis to guide and facilitate sales efforts.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Assists in the management, development and execution of category strategies in alignment with the region’s priorities

Organizing and administering weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual category reports.

Provide assistance in the creation of sales presentations.

Develop, maintain and manage analytics utilizing syndicated data to support the sales team.

Develop modulars and provide electronic delivery to account’s modular department.

Create and maintain store level and regional schematics and modulars.

Ensure region’s goals and objectives are aligned across all areas through the direction of the sales team and development of programs and relationships.

Conduct analysis including Fact Based Fair Share Space Analysis and other ad hoc analysis.

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree and 5 - 7 years of related industry experience, category management experience preferred.  Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Experience in category management or related sales experience with regional and/or national retail chains.
  • Expertise utilizing Retail Link, AC Nielsen, IRI, Empower, Info Retriever, Spectra, and Market Track for managing analytics.
  • Ability to analyze syndicated data and industry information to formulate recommendations.
  • Work requires ability to demonstrate excellent communication, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Competencies in MS Office applications with emphasis in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) and Access (relationships, queries, forms).
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Category Management Best Practices.
  • Work requires the ability to work across multiple teams each having unique goals and achieve expected results.
  • Work requires basic retail food industry and grocery knowledge.
  • Work requires the ability to travel as needed.
