Project Engineering Manager

This position is responsible for managing the capital expenditures in infrastructure for company’s manufacturing facilities in the United States.
Planning, implementation and tracking in regards to all activities and tasks related to the engineering, construction and management of capital investment projects whilst complying and enforcing the company rules and policies:
- Manages Capital Expenditure Budget.
- Performs financial analysis and justification per project ensuring higher return on investments versus cost of capital.
- Does Project Management and execution of projects; contracts of Engineering and Contractors.
- Technically approve and coordinate CapEx projects managed by plant managers/engineers.
- Coordinate with Plant Personnel the Execution of Projects (Corporate and Plant related).
- Define the scope of each project as needed and assigned.
- Define the objectives and timelines that are to be met at the completion of each project.
- Prepare a detailed work plan for each project, identifying the activities needed to successfully complete each one of them.
- Determine and explain the process in order to obtain the resources (i.e. time, money, equipment, among others) required to complete each project.
- Prepare project cost estimates in collaboration with the relevant departments.
- Manage project staff in accordance to the Company’s policies and practices.
- Execute each project according to the previously developed and approved work plan.
- Review and supervise the progress of each project and make the necessary adjustments as they are needed to ensure the successful completion of each project.
- Prepare documents and specifications for bids as needed and requested.
- Prepare Conceptual drawings.
- Review architectural / engineering drawings made by in-house firm.
- Approve, Sign and Stamp drawings.
- Participate in the process of selection and evaluation of contractors, in accordance with the company’s policies, practices and needs.
- Evaluate, obtain quotations of and select equipment and material.
- Prepare purchase orders requests and follow up, including the negotiation of the corresponding agreement.
- Keep track of projects’ cost and maintain it within the approved amount and project scope.
- Review and evaluate the needs and requirements of each project in collaboration with the operations department and any other involved department as each may be.
- Coordinate with suppliers to track shipping, delivery and, in its case, installation schedules in accordance with the company’s needs and in constant communication with the company’s relevant department.
- Perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering, either Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Food, or in Construction Management and 8 years experience managing CapEx projects. Minimum three year experience in the food industry, preferably in bakery, managing engineering projects. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office software programs.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project
- Advanced ability with the use of CAD software, preferably AutoCAD
- Experience supervising engineering personnel.
- Ability to direct multiple engineering projects.
- Ability to plan strategically to maximize return on investments.
- Ability to analyze capital expenditure projects.
- Ability to utilize SAP and other internal systems to access and analyze data.
